چکیده
Abstract. Ice particles play an important role in precipitation formation and radiation balance. Therefore, accurate description of ice initiation the atmosphere is great importance for weather prediction models climate simulations. Despite abundance crystals atmosphere, mechanisms their remain not well understood. There are two major sets atmosphere: primary nucleation secondary production. Secondary production occurs presence preexisting ice, which results enhancement concentration particles. Until recently, was mainly attributed to rime-splintering mechanism, known as Hallett–Mossop process, active a relatively narrow temperature range from ?3 ?8 ?C. The existence process supported by situ observations. present study provides explicit observation at temperatures low ?27 ?C, outside process. This expands our knowledge clouds. obtained intended stimulate laboratory theoretical studies develop physically based parameterizations models.

Properties of a Statistical Model of Ice at Low Temperatures
A simple statistical model for ice is presented, based on a point charge model for H2O. To simulate this model, a Monte Carlo algorithm is constructed that samples proton configurations according to the Boltzmann distribution. The ground state of the model is numerically found to be an ordered nonferroelectric state with a unit cell of eight water molecules. The same structure has been previous...
متن کاملProduction of Ice in Tropospheric Clouds
25 hydrometeors in Earth’s atmosphere at any moment are liquid water, while the rest are ice. Though only a small percentage of the total condensed water in the troposphere, ice exerts an enormous infl uence on processes ranging from precipitation and cloud electrifi cation to radiative transfer. To understand and ultimately predict these processes, we must understand the ways in which ice form...
متن کاملInteractions of adsorbed CO₂ on water ice at low temperatures.
We present a computational study into the adsorption properties of CO2 on amorphous and crystalline water surfaces under astrophysically relevant conditions. Water and carbon dioxide are two of the most dominant species in the icy mantles of interstellar dust grains and a thorough understanding of their solid phase interactions at low temperatures is crucial for understanding the structural evo...

[1] The Reanalysis derived from the UK Mars general circulation model assimilation of Thermal Emission Spectrometer temperature and dust opacity retrievals at present provides the best estimate of the evolving state of the Martian atmosphere over the course of the Mars Global Surveyor mapping mission. A Control simulation has also been carried out using the same evolving dust distribution as th...
متن کاملNovel expression systems for recombinant protein production at low temperatures
One of the main limitations experienced while producing proteins in conventional bacterial mesophilic systems is the need to operate at their optimal growth temperature (usually 37 oC) for the production process. Since temperature has a general negative impact on protein folding due to the strong temperature dependence of hydrophobic interactions that mainly drive the aggregation reaction, the ...
